I was an ODP category editor for about a year, for the category Business: Construction & Maintenance: Directories: Europe.

Due to pressures of work I lapsed in my editing, and was removed as an editor due to inactivity. The pressures of work have now eased, and I would like to request to be reinstated as the editor of that category, which has no current editor. However, I am having technical problems in achieving this using the ODP online forms.

The ODP system is automatically rejecting my online applications for reinstatement because I do not have a record of the email address which I was using at the time. The ODP system tells me that they have a record of my name as a previous ODP editor, but my current email address (reid@dsl.pipex.com) does not match the email address that they have on record for me.

I am in a trap, because if I had my old email address I could use it to get into the system and update my email details. But as I don't, I can't get into the system either as an old editor or as a new one.

Can anyone please suggest how I might overcome this automatic rejection, and get through to a person at ODP who could help me? Many thanks.

That you've forgotten some of your login details or you no longer have access to your original email account are merely stumbling blocks, not show stoppers.

Please contact me via http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/send.cgi?toeditor=jimnoble with as much corroborative information as you can such as:-

Approximate date joined
Editor name (but not password)
Original email address
Joining category
Additional categories gained
Roughly how many edits done
Approximate date of leaving and the circumstances

Convince me that you are who you say you are and I can reset your email address of record to one that works today. This will make it possible for you to request a password reminder if needed and complete a reinstatement request form.
