We just started our affiliate program... in-house. Results are ok... nothing great really... ANyway, I have some good perfromaing affiliates that I want to pay out.
They are all from Canada. I am a US company. How do I legally pay them? What information do I need from them?
There is another new one that is perfroming ok he is from japan...

Hi RedConvertible6,
You know those are very good questions that I don't have the answers to. I have only managed affiliate programs that were set-up on networks and the network took care of payments and paperwork. I do know that lots of oversees affiliate prefer being paid by Paypal because sometimes its expensive to cash US checks.
Can anyone else help out with these questions?

We have several Canadian affiliates. You should collect a w8 from them before paying. It's the equivalent of a w9 for US based affiliates.
Also, there tends to be alot of fraud from affiliates who use Canadian addresses, so be sure to do your due diligencewhen they sign up for your program. I suggest calling them to verify that they are real and reachable.

Hey Linda, thanks for the warm welcome, as always! :)
Red, I'm glad I could help. Thank YOU for the rating. :D
I've been so busy at work of late that I haven't been frequeting the forums, which I always enjoy. I had some spare time while the superbowl was on. The greatest thing happened, everyone in my house was so consumed with the game that I actually had time to myself! Wohooo.
I sound like a total geek. Oh well, Bill Gates is a geek, right?

I know what you mean! Everyone in my house was watching tv and I am usually on the computer. My computer is my tv... my computer is my soulmate... hahahaha
Happy Friday

Hey Red, I just wanted to point something out for you. We have some great international affiliates, but we make it very tough for our international affiliates to get into our program to avoid rampant fraud.
If you don't have any screening of new signups, let me know and I'll give you some of the steps we use in the screening process.
take care and have a great wknd.

Hey danay
We don't have any screening in place. I would really appreciate your help.
