Hi,
Iam new to PDF file optimisation. So please help me, in clarifying my doubts.
I heared that we can rank easily for a PDF file when compared with HTML file. So we can target highly competitive keywords also for PDF file optimisation. Is this true?
Also can I have any tips or articles to read or PDF optimisation factors, for my PDF file optimisation.
Can anyone help me in this?
Regards

A couple of things - first, most PDF generators (including Adobe's) do NOT generate links with anchor text, unless you edit them afterward.
This can fool you, because Acrobat reader automatically makes links afterward, so you may think they are actually there. Search engines don't, however.
In order to do so, you either need to generate the PDF using the latest Wordperfect (out now) or MS Word (out soon), or some type of PDF creator that lets you do this - like I said, most don't.

some people try to build up the page that the PDF is offered from because PDFs may be long and some people may not be able to open them quickly (like my firefox sometimes crashes from trying to open PDFs)

Shari Thurow's done a number of articles on PDF optimization. Check out:

HighRankings also had this forum discussion on the topic:

In one of the articles of Shari Thurow, she writes:
One quick-and-dirty way to determine whether or not your PDF documents
contain text is to use the copy-and-paste method. In a browser, open
up a PDF document and select Control-A (on a PC) to select "all," then
Control-C to copy. Open up another text-based editor, such as NotePad
or SimpleText, in another window. Paste the text into the text editor
by selecting Control-V. That is the text the search engines can read.
When I do this "quick-and-dirty" test, I get a bunch of lines and squares. My PDF document was originally create in Microsoft Word.
Is this suppose to be SearchEngineese? :D
