We have recently opened a Blog and a Forum on our site. Both get hit with people linking to porn sites. Our concern is that Google will see the links (if they have the time or if someone told them) and we would get kicked off their ad program.
We use phpbb and b2. I may try wordpress soon.
It is hard for us to read every post and every blog. The Google ads are on the pages. "The wife" is really concerned and I thought I would ask this question - what if Google saw a link before we were able to pull it off?
thanks Dan

You need to put in spam protection methods. Most blogs and forums have solutions. Some require you to register before commenting.
You can also use the nofollow attribute for those links.

I will have to look into the no follow attributes. These people do log in. I have deleted their accounts and blocked their re-entry the best I could.
Another question: I was wondering what the Google Adsense team would do if they found out someone linked to a pron site on a forum or blog with Google Ads on the page. Would they immediatly kick you out of the program?
Thanks,
Dan

This is what I did. I took the Google ads off the forum and blog site. I replaced it with Kontera. Actually, I was not making that much from the forum and it could have been diluting my overall CTR causing me to get less profitable ads. I might do better with Kontera on those pages anyway.

Hi All,
Looking at the sign up for Kontera it looks as if they are saying that there might be contractual problem with other programs. I am assuming that it is referring to Goggle and I have put allot of work into ad sense and do not want to get smoted by them.... Do you know if it is OK to have Kontera and Google on the same page? On the same Site? I ask as I saw a site with a page that had both running and thought that would be nice if you could.
Thanks

I have both on the same page. The only reason I pulled Google off the blogs and the forum is because I didn't want to lose Google. Within the main part of the website I use both on the same page.

I just deny both comments and trackbacks. The spam is way out of control now a days. I've used bblog on some of our blogs and that allows you to disable comments. But they don't let you manage your trackbacks so this is how I delt with it.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
#example url /blog/trackback/123.htm
RewriteRule ^.*trackback.*$ - [F,L]
This gives the spam boys a forbidden header. you'll have to customize to your url structure but that stops all trackbacks dead.

Have you seen the both together on other major sites?
I am just really paronoid on losing the income from google.

No I have not, but Google does allow Linkshare and Commission Junction, why not Kontera? They are just another advertsing agency, right?
Hey seomike, sorry for being dumb here: What are trackbacks? I use B2Blog. Is that the one you use? If so where do you turn off the comment.
I also installed Wordpress but have not set it up ads on it yet. The B2 had XML set up for it already but if I want Wordpress set up I need to do some work.
Thank you
Dan

You got me thinking about the Kontera thing. Here is a site that uses both ads:

Kontera opens late so wait for the page to complete.
Here is a comment on the subject:
And AdLinks also gives plenty of freedom for optimization, something I’ve barely touched so far.
At the moment it’s not entirely clear whether Google considers putting AdLinks on the same pages as AdSense to be a breach of their TOS. Some publishers have reported that Google have given them permission; others say Google has told them they need to take it off.
Although they’re both contextualized advertising, the two systems look pretty different. If Google agrees, I don’t see why they shouldn’t be complementary. And if Google doesn’t agree, they’d better hope that Kontera doesn’t start writing very big checks.

Here is the TOS from Google:
If You have elected to receive content or Site-based Ads, You further agree not to display on any Serviced Page any non-Google content-targeted advertisement(s).
That sounds like Kontera???

I am going to stay away from Kontera until I get something more positive that it is ok.
Thanks !

I am going to keep it on the blogs and forum but not on the main site.
