I developed a new Spanish language meta-search engine, ComoAnda. Any advice or feedback will be much appreciated. The engine targets spanish speakers in the US that are more comfortable surfing the web in Spanish than in English. It can be seen at http://www.comoanda.com

I feel the look and feel dress is a bit Googelized. In Spanglish: La veo un poco "Googleada".

For the word "Búsqueda" in the default mode, clicking the next 10 results shows

"Buscamos las páginas que contenían las palabras Búsqueda", which is an aberration of the original term. This is possibly a wrong rendering of the intended acute "u" vowel. This could be solved with properly mapping the character with the corresponding unicode entity. I haven't check for other characters.

Orion - Thanks for the reply. I'm not able to reproduce the problem. I entered Búsqueda into the search field in default mode and went to the second page of results. Its fine in four different browsers on two different computers. I'll look more into this. It's definately a problem that needs to be fixed.

Good meta engine. Congratulations. I haven't check for IR performance. So far, it works great for the following Spanish regionalisms

aseguranza de autos (51 results)

aseguransa de autos (23 results)

and for the correct expression in "neutral" Spanish,

seguro de autos (66 results)

However, I'm still seeing the acute problem. Weird. This is what I mean.

Buscamos las páginas que contenían las palabras Búsqueda 49 páginas fueron encontradas
La Búsqueda duró 0.0004 segundos

Orion - Thanks. I still can not reproduce the error. Can you send me a screen shot? Also, what browser are you using? Is it set up to interpret non UTF-8 characters? Thanks

I did some more testing.

If I add focus to the search box with nothin on it and hit the return key it gives search results for

the "1 1.html" query (which seem to be the name of the results page).

Same if I do a search, delete the text from the search field and hit return. This is something need to be fixed.

FINDALL and EXACT modes seem to work fine but I need to do more testing.

Overall, the idea is just OK.

PS. I'm using the latest version of IE and Windows XP. It also returns results for "4 1.html" after doing other searches, clearing the search box and hitting return (Enter). I'm still seeing the acute problem for other vowels. I'm sending you the screen shots.
