I disagree with both search marketers quoted in this report. It appears they don't know the BI business. I've been reading of Convera for several years. They have done big business with many in the field such as In-Q-Tel, the business unit of the CIA.

My sites have been spidered by Convera several times.... I was wondering why because most of my sites are pet related (http://www.pawsitesonline.com) ... guess FBI are going into the pet business??? :D

Traditionally, Convera has been a BI enterprise provider http://blog.searchenginewatch.com/blog/051006-091939 for many agencies, such as In-Q-Tel --anagram for Intel Q, where Q can be anything to conspiracy theorists or to whom may be concerned (query, questions, quest, etc...)

Their technology indexes multimedia in addition to docs and is one of the best in the field. The move of Convera to more commercialized general searches seems an interesting trend from similars that want be in the vertical business for x or y reason.
