Hi guys,
I have a high-ranking website over several keywords. My blog is setup in a sub-domain of this website ie. blog.domain.com.
Does it make good SEO sense to link to my blog from my homepage?
Also, which is better in terms of SEO.. blog.domain.com OR domain.com/blog
Thanks for your help

Personally, I prefer to use domain.com/blog especially because blog.domain.com is considered a separate site becase it's a subdomain.
When it comes to organic seach engine rankings, get more benefit from putting the content on your main domain in a directory rather than a subdomain.

Jeremy, forget about whether it's good for SEO or not. Is it good for those people that might be visiting your site? If it is, then do it. If not, then don't.
You wouldn't take something off your website that was good for your visitors, just because you were afraid of a search engine, would you? The search engines shouldn't dictate what you put on your site. All that matters is what makes your site the best it can be.
The good thing about that is you won't have to worry about the search engines not liking what you're doing, because they have no problem with anything you might do that really and truly makes your site better.

Hi Jill,
Thanks so much for your post. I was more trying to establish whether or not the positive effects of my blogging, and creating new content daily, would on-flow on to my main domain, if my blog was hosted as a sub-domain.
From your advice, I feel i should link to my blog on my home page.
It's a tough game, and I'm being cautious, because right now, I'm happy with how my site is ranking, but losing those high positions on SERPs is really damaging.
What's your view on the sub-domain vs domain.com/directory hosting for my blog? Does it make any difference at all?
I really respect your opinion, and great advice. Thanks again!
Jeremy

In my opinion whether it's a subdomain or a subdirectory makes no difference. It's all in how you link to it.
If it were me, assuming the blog is related to your main site, I would add a link to it in my main navigation so that it could be reached from any page of your site.
