I was just on the phone with YSM trying to see if there is any way that I can differentiate the Content and Standard listings in an account. I just wanted to change the tracking URL to append extra data showing that the ad was displayed on a content partner instead of a search partner. Unfortunately, I received confirmation that all ad changes are universal.

Has anyone come up with a way to determine at Yahoo whether the origin of traffic is from Standard match or Content Match area? And why the heck do they even include a separate "Manage Listings" tab under the Content match area if it simply overwrites the Standard Match area listing?

URL changes affect universal listings - absolutely crazy of YSM to implement such a system.

The only way is to have 2 accounts - and use standard on one and content on the other...cumbersome? Yes, but I've found no other way yet...

Here's another quirky implementation - this involves "BUDGET" on/off. If you have budget on, then YSM's algo determines when it is the best times to turn your listings on or off - depending on their data, unlike G, i think that's giving YSM too much control over the money advertisers are spending...

The only way to have TOTAL control over your listings is to turn the budget OFF, which requires you to monitor it like a hawk or else risk it running wildly off the charts...

Either way I look at it, it seems that its all about YSM implementing the best way to maximize their own revenue rather than serve their clients...
