I have been reading in forums lately about how many page sites have indexed on Google. How do you know how may pages have been indexed. I was thinking about building a site map but If I'm already getting indexed I'm not sure it will be worth it.

Ask google: "site:mysite.com" for a rough overview, but remember that the count is only approximate and it also lists URLs which aren't fully indexed (i.e. don't show in the serps).
