Hi
Like overture keyword selector tool (inventory.overture.com) to find out no. of times a particular keyword queried for a month. There is same kind of key selector tool available for google & msn?. I posted this question 24 hours back, but no one reply.

Hi ramki,
The best way to get an idea how many times a phrase is getting searched for on Google, is to use Google Adwords, sign up for an account choose the keyword phase(s) you're interested in (with the appropriate budget) and you will get somewhat of an idea how popular (search amount) a phrase is.
As of right now, I can't recall MSN having any info on search numbers.
The other two main souces are Overture (which I'm sure you're already aware of) and then wordtracker. This (wordtracker) uses the metacrawler database. Granted its smaller, but we can get somewhat of an idea of peope are seaching for,. ie singular, plural, misspellings. etc,.. with PPC, we can find out a lot more quickly aprox how popular a phrase is.
To find the best keyword phrase(s), it takes a while, and you also want to use some kind of tracking with regards to conversions and roi.

I notice I get different results when I search for say "golf course dallas" than I would if I did "dallas golf course". Plural searches also turn up something different.
Does the info that Wordtracker and the Overture tool give us distinguish between the order of words in a keyword phrase as well as plural versus singular? I can't seem to tell and I want to optimize for the right order and such.

Unfortunately there aren't tools for MSN or Google yet that can do what Yahoo does.
Yahoo will be adding this feature to it's API I understand in the near future. Then you can at least write a program to do it for you. Right now I physically log into my overture account and step through adding listings until the last screen to get monthly searches for a group of words. It's a pain, but I usually multiply it by 2.5 to give interested party a rough estimate of the searches per month.

you could skip the "adding listings" and go straight to the Keyword Selector tool on this page (http://searchmarketing.yahoo.com/rc/srch/?mkt=us) for such data. the 2.5 times is usually about what I use too, though.
In regards to such a tool at Google, gerardism gave a good example of how to get some data. The thing is you need to use an account with essentially an unlimited budget in order to see the most possible "Impressions" estimnated during a period.

overture's match driver on their Keyword Selector tool combines singular and plural counts for a search into one singular result, e.g. if:
"magic card" 150 searches
"magic cards" 200 searches
overture returns "magic card" 350 searches
their match driver also returns searches for synonyms, e.g. entering "car insurance" will also return matches for "auto insurance". this can be good for expanding your search laterally, though most of their suggestions are pretty self-evident.
wordtracker returns separate results for singular and plural.
i've noticed wordtracker distinguishes between word order as well, e.g. "magic card", and "card magic", whereas overture will take "degrees online", and return results for the highest count synonym "online degrees", rather than the specific word order you requested.
bottom line, both tools are useful for me, but in different ways. i use overture for quick sizing of terms to get a feel for how active the keyword space is. i use wordtracker to dig in deeper once i've identified a market and want to start building around specific phrases.

The reason I go through the add listing process is because I have a set list of 50+ words that I need to estimate traffic on. Rather then typing in each, one at a time, I can do 40 at a time through the add listings console. To date that's the best measurement tool I could fine that was reasonably accurate.
Now, if Google, Yahoo, and MSN were to open up an API function call to get estimated queries per month, that would allow someone to create a "heck-u-va" tool I think alot of us would appreciate.

About the performance (or the lack of it) of these keyword toys; it is mentioned here

The issues of co-occurrence is also addressed in the Keyword Co-Occurrence sticky thread http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=48

Yes, of course. I agree that this can be better for this purpose. However we can also use a more general keywords in the main tool to receive a list of any keyword phrase including it, which accomplishes the same thing.
Hey thanks for stopping in and orion and for the good reminder links!

That is true. I'm sure I use the Keyword Tool to get the initial list that is worth bidding on.

thats the key... just set up test accounts and see.
volume doesn't matter if the traffic doesn't convert well anyhow.
