View Full Version : How long should I wait?

My site at http://www.absolutequartzcrystals.com has been up for 2
months now and doesn't appear ANYWHERE in the search results for any of
my search terms.

It does however, return about 130 results when I use link:
www.absolutequartzcrystals.com showing that it does recognize at least
130 inward bound links.

I have created, submitted and verified my XML site map and googlebot is
regularly spidering all my pages (nearly 600 hits this month so far and
the last visit was a couple of hours ago)

I have also been aggressivly seeking return links from relevant,
related websites.

Origionally I (foolishly) used doorway pages but I have since deleted
these and dissallowed the directories that contained them in the
robots.txt file.

So my question is this: is it possible that I have been banned from G
for using doorway pages or does G take longer than 2 months to enter a
site into the search results despite regular spidering?

I don't rank AT ALL at this point. For my main search term "quartz
crystals" I have drilled to to over 1000 rankings and don't appear.

While I don't claim to be an SEO expert, the site is pretty well
optimised and certainly better than the pages raking further down!

I am either simply not ranked yet or else being heavily penalised in
some way.

Thanks
Jim

Is it a new domain? My experience is that new domains also tend to take some time.

For example, I have a client who moved from an established domain to a new domain and it took 6 months for the new domain to show up in results other than supplemental.

I registered the domain about 3 or 4 months ago.

If you do a search for http://www.absolutequartzcrystals.com and then click the "Find webpages from the site.." link it shows over 200 pages are indexed but the only listing I have seen in the search results is one minor page with a rather obcure search term (and then it was pretty low down...)

My main pages are fairly well optimised. Title tags, keyword density, return links, alt tags, H1 tags etc but simply don't appear anywhere in the rankings while other sites, lower down, appear to be getting "accidental" listings for my search terms without even being aware of it...they just happened to mention the keywords in an unrelated context.

Any ideas?

This is exactly what happened with the client I explained. He was in the exact same situation (lots of pages indexed but none ranking). In fact he only had 1 ranking - again for an obscure term and he was in the hundreds for that term (ie I think it was 313) and then one day his site was "allowed" and he instantly moved back to the top of the SERPs where the old site was before.

I don't really understand how or why it moved so fast, but it did. My feeling is that you are experiencing the same thing - and if it's been a few months since Googlebot first discovered the domain it should be popping out of this "sandbox" soon, when is anyone's guess.

FYI, I did a domain check and saw 211 pages, I also saw that you have a couple instances where HTML is used in the <title> tag (ie www.absolutequartzcrystals.com/custom/more.asp?prodid=715) you'll want to fix that. Also saw an instance of a page with no title (www.absolutequartzcrystals.com/manualconvert.htm) which you might want to check on.

I guess what I'm saying is, unfortunately, you may just have to wait.
