I'm new to all this, so any help would be appreciated. I have a music site, and I had a bunch of other musics/lyrics sites liking to mine, as I linked to them. Once Yahoo spidered me, i lost a ton of my organic search traffic. Does anyone know what qualifies a "bad site" to link to or to BE linked to?

Yahoo seems to have been cracking down recently on "sitewide" links. Is your site linked-to from every page on one or more other sites?

Hi tally...do a command like this in the yahoo search box:

linkdomain:<your domain name here without the "www">.com

If you see a bunch of the results (this command will show you pages with links to your domain) coming from the same main site/different pages (ie: one from www.abc.com, another from www.abc.com/abcd, www.abc.com/abcde, ...etc), then you have some "sitewide" links inbound. once again this is only one possible solution.

btw I moved this into Yahoo Forum since that is what it applies to. Others will now see this and maybe comment further...I will too as soon as I have some time :p

It turned out we did have some sitewide links on other sites, and have since requested that they be taken down. ANy other ideas? Bad links vs Good links?

I really can only comment on the linking issue, and since you have not publicly given your site, I cannot speculate as to other issues. However, from the directions above, if you analyze as many links as possible and try to find unrelated links, especially any on sites with lots of links to "bad" neighborhoods" (such as Viargra, gambling, etc...), you might be onto something.

If ALL of your inbounds or a great majority are reciprocal, that may be an issue as well...are you listed in any legitimate directories such as yahoo or DMOZ?
