Hi I'm new to the forum, I tried to look for this topic but was unable to find any info.
My advertising people want to ad Intellitxt to our content. Basically It's a cotextual ad unit.
Does anyone know of any implications/impact that this might have on my indexing/crawling of my content.
I think I will be treated like a regular text link... I'm too much of a novice to see any other implications. Any knowledge on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Nopadon

Until you mentioned it, I had never heard of this advertising medium. Are you using Vibrant Media (http://www.vibrantmedia.com/site/index.html) for this?
Nopadon,
A site I read just tested it out. See:
Threadwatch Tests IntelliTXT (http://www.threadwatch.org/node/3438) and Threadwatch Drops IntelliTXT (http://www.threadwatch.org/node/3523)
I would ask them why they dropped it.
Hope these help,

Threadwatch dropped IntelliTXT because it was mostly unsuitable for the audience. If you have a high volume of "drive-by" SE traffic, it would probably work much better.
And yes, it runs through Vibrant Media

The Threadwatch web site says they shut it down for the following reason: "poor performance on Threadwatch has forced me to cut it short".
Not sure what exactly they mean by that? But they are going to write more soon.

It just didn't work out.
I dont think intelliTXT is a bad system, in fact, i think it's potentially a great system for some sites, but on TW it was a dead loss.
Reason:
* TW readers are extremely tech, and ad savvy - TW caters to pro marketers - they're very ad familiar
* Bearing the above in mind, a blog, or news site, or even a forum, is unsuitable IMO. Mostly because the targeting is not good enough to deal with it. Adsense is not good enough either, but it's a hell of a lot better than intelliTXT - the very simple keyword hooks are simply not up to par with often ambiguous content and rapid publishing. See the second link in the original post for details.
