Hi
I know is probably basic but I've noticed when a do a backlink search for certain sites a lot of their own web pages are listed.
They use the URL as opposed to the internal file or does it matter?
If a site has only 50 links and they are all within that site are counted as backlinks and do they influence the rankings?
I doubt it but let me know anyway.

Does the size of a website make any difference? The bigger the more chance of higher rankings?

Until today I probably like most webmasters didn't use the <h> header tags. How important are they?

What is the optinmum keyword density and does the alt text count in the overall text as far as Google's concerned.
Thanks

Hi Jampers, good to read you again

when a do a backlink search for certain sites a lot of their own web pages are listed. They use the URL as opposed to the internal file or does it matter?I personally use the URL, but it is more a matter of being consistent.

If a site has only 50 links and they are all within that site are counted as backlinks and do they influence the rankings All the links are counted, it is just some may be factored more than others. The links have limited effect on your rankings. They are one part of the algo, but only one part of many. However, do get as many links pointing to your site as possible. Aim for clean, relevant, and authoritative sites. Develop and use good anchor text. I recommend varying it a few different ways

Does the size of a website make any difference? The bigger the more chance of higher rankings? The more pages one has the more key phrases one can target. IMO it is best to limit a page to one or two phrases and then write your copy concentrating on them. Each page of your site should be considered an entry point.

Until today I probably like most webmasters didn't use the <h> header tags. How important are they? For awhile the H1 or headers were considered important for SEOing a page for G. I do not use them for that reason, but rather for what they were designed and that is to highlight the paragraph or topic to follow

What is the optinmum keyword density and does the alt text count in the overall text as far as Google's concerned. you will hear all kinds of theories regarding KW density. You will hear 2% and you will hear 20% or more. After writing my copy I let it sit for a day or so and then rewrite it. Then I let it sit again and read it aloud. If it sounds aok then i figure I have the correct density. The alt text counts as text on a page, but again use it for what it was intended,ie. describing a photo, describing the page the graphic is linking to.

Good fortune with your site
