Do a search on real estate or web design, or anything really, and look at the AdWords results. You will notice that they show city, state (for me, New York, NY) under some of the results. This 'in your face' geotargetting is great (IMO).

Hmm.. they've been testing it for about two months or so I think, I originally saw it about that long ago for a few searches for a local cabinet maker who's well known to high end design, but has a showroom in the nearby shopping district.

they have been doing that for a good while if memory serves. I often see a bunch of the local ads (I think I have seen a bunch of them in the 3rd or 4th position)

They've been fooling with it here and there for a few months; I get them here and there for Los Angeles. First time I remember noticing was AdSense on a website for something totally generic and not at all locale specific.

All this time on the left coast I still wish it was Brooklyn, where people speak the language correctly.

Thanks for the clarification, I never noticed it. So I guess its not so much "in your face".

Yeah, rustybrick, not exactly new. But I'm sure glad you like it!
