you probably want to spend a bit more time reading the forums until you get more specific questions.

the basic steps:

start with keyword research
code and link the pages of your site accordingly
build links pointed at your site

Sudeepa - It sounds like you are perhaps asking whether the search engine spiders can see your site in the first place.

Do you know whether it is a static or a dynamic site? What do the urls look like for a typical page? Does it use any fancy technology like Flash or javascript for navigation? Do you have links to your site from other websites?

There are a large number of factors to be considered just for basic visibility. If you do not have any sort of technical vocabularly, communicating essential concepts will be very difficult.

Hi Robert,

Answering ur questions our site is a static site and we have only flash in the home page rest of the pages have no flash or javascript.
Rt now we have very few links to our site from other websites but i am in the process of getting it done and am building links from other website.

i am acctually these days building a plan for online marketing and my study is basically to understand SEO so that i can approach the co. for resources.
we can tghen hire tech ppl to implement it once i am clear on the way ahead.

Having a Flash or graphics only home page is throwing away the best optimizing opportunity on your site.

Also, and this may depend on the kind of site you have and the kind of visitors you expect, Flash adds an element of time. Many visitors... particularly those looking for information... don't want to be held captive while a Flash introduction plays.

I've posted on another thread about some things you should consider when you set up a Flash page, so the search engines can at least get something to spider (assuming there is some text content you can extract from your Flash):
