Hello All,

Quick query - the <noscript> tag - what sort of implications does this have on search engine optimization and potential rankings?

Do the search engines look at this in a negative manner? We are using this for the purpose of ensuring that people without Javascript can see our site and it's content and Google seems to be picking up the content in the <noscript> tag quite nicely, but I want to be sure this won't hamper our potential future rankings.

Cheers

Like most HTML code, it can be used for good or for spamming. As long as you use it for its intended purpose, you don't have to worry about it.

So Jill,

If we use the noscript for the purpose of feeding the necessary content and links to those users who don't have javascript 'on', then this is ok in Google and other search engine eyes as long as we don't use it to spam..?

As long as it's the same information, it's not spam, it's good useability.

Same information as the same content viewable on the page which some users can't see.
