Clickbank takes a larger cut ($1 + 7.5%) than most places and from my experiences seems to have slightly greater fraud than PayPal, but they are one of the more well known affiliate marketing hub sites.

It is true and the products of CB are not good too,but there are many people saying that they have earned a lot from them.

they have a marketplace or whatever, but I don't think that helps the average person out much unless that person is already selling a ton. for most people they are nothing more than an expensive payment processor (although they do automate the affiliate checks and don't cost you much unless you have many sales).
when I sell ebooks through paypal I get like $77 each and when they sell through clickbank I get $72 each. that is a fairly substantial difference if you sell a good number of products.
I couple other well known affiliate hubs are
CJ (and BeFree, which is now a part of CJ)
LinkShare
Performics
then there are many small ones like
kowabunga / myaffiliateprogram
sharasale
clickxchange
ClickBank's larger cut (compared to PayPal) is since they have a built-in affiliate program and check-paying service which is very handy for a merchant if you don't want to bother with all that.
It's also convenient for affiliates since you can easily try lots of different sites/merchants without signing up to a ton of different programs, and you know exactly how things are being tracked and when you're going to get paid.
