I have a second domain that I want to redirect to my main domain. The secondary domain is parked at GoDaddy and they offer free domain forwarding service using the 302 redirect.

Are there other registrars out there that offer 302 to forward domains? What are my options here?

I'm still a bit confused about whether Google and the other search engines have figured out the 302 vs. 301 thing. Some of the older articles I found on the net say it is a terrible thing to use 302. Some of the more recent articles say Google and yahoo are figuring it out. Which is it? Gulp. Help.

Hey,

I would only use a 301 redirect just to be safe. You might want to check with your hosting company and see if they can provide you with a 301 redirect for your other domain(s). You might be able to find out from the control panel, or if you can't, just a simple email to them.

Seeing all the fuss that was happening lately with 302's, I would feel much safer using a 301 redirect.

I'd like to know what you find out. I've used GoDaddy's domain forwarding too. If they offer 301 redirects, it might be a good option to use. Not sure how Google is currently treating 302's. Hopefully the current update will sort that out too!

Thanks for the response guys. :)

I emailed Godaddy and they confirmed that they do NOT support 301 redirects. Luckily, my webmaster asked our hosting company for help and, as it turn out, my hosting company does offer 301 redirect service for free. So maybe you can give that a shot.

Is everything ok once you use 301 redirects? Are there still things to watch out for, such as limiting the number of domain names you are using for the redirect? Right now we are directing 5 names to our main site. Is that too much? Can we add more?
