Hello, we are currently looking at signing up for Hitwise, industry segmented tools.
I just wanted to know if there are any users here that find a value from this and are currently members of the analytics.
any comments would be great
Cheers

The value of the HitWise service depends on your industry.
There are many industries that they're tracking on a regular basis and many that they do not track on a regular basis--so they don't have any accurate data (or any data) for certain industries.
There are certain industries that I do organic SEO for where I can get more valuable data from the free tools than I can get from HitWise, which is a paid service. That just doesn't make sense to me. It would seem that if it's a paid service I should at least be able to get some data for an industry--since it's free.
If HitWise is tracking the industry you want data for, then yes--it could definitely be a must-have tool.

The data will either be there or it won't. If they have the data, then it will certainly be thorough. Otherwise, forget it.
I do use Hitwise a lot for my clients and find that in general it's really great. However, there is be a traffic threshold and if the site isn't large enough it many not generate data that will be of any use to you.
For my larger clients it is a goldmine of invaluable competitive information, but for my smaller clients its very difficult to get anything specific for them.

We have just launched a competitive intelligence tool that is much more affordable located at:
Competitive Intelligence (http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/)
Plus we also have an Industry Keywords section located at:
Industry Keywords (http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/keyword-directory.html)
Both worth having a look.
For my larger clients it is a goldmine of invaluable competitive information, but for my smaller clients its very difficult to get anything specific for them.
This is also true for our tool, however we can add any site to our tracking on request. Even less popular sites. Where within 2 weeks to 1 month we would have good data sources for most domains.
