The message:

"Internet Explorer has experienced a problem with a browser add-on and needs to close down."

The add-on was the Yahoo toolbar, and the specific file was yt.dll

I checked with Yahoo's toolbar section and there's information on various issues, but not quite enough and not covering everything. I love the Yahoo toolbar and use it all day long, including the new "Save to MyWeb", but there needs to be an address to report any technical issues that arise.

I just realized something and figured I'd better add the information, in case anyone else experiences anything like this.

I think it's probably more of a Windows/IE issue than a Y! toolbar issue. I've used the Yahoo toolbar for ages and updated to install MyWeb within seconds of seeing it was available. No problems, ever! BUT - I just updated to Windows XP - SP2 on Friday or Saturday this week and it was after that (Sunday early morning in the wee hours) that I had this one time occurrence, which never happened before and hasn't happened since.

I'm thinking it may be a Windows firewall issue - or that annoying pop-up blocker that now comes with upgraded IE that you can't shut off. The one with the Yahoo toolbar has always worked just FINE and you can allow popups for sites you consider OK and trust - and need.

Never a problem with the Yahoon toolbar, I think this was more than likely to do with the Windows upgrade.

Just a follow-up, in case anyone else runs into this. It is DEFINITELY an Internet Explorer issue, and it's related to the XP upgrade to SP2, without a doubt in my mind.

I've isolated the toolbar issue as happening when I use the built-in search, which I use ALL day to use Yahoo Search (also for my email, etc, etc - especially MyWeb) though the problem only occurs maybe once a day, if even that much.

After I got this new computer with XP last year I never experienced browser crashes, as I had with Win98 (mostly from Javascript). But since the upgrade to SP2 I'm again having occasional crashes from Javascript on web pages - which has nothing whatsoever to do with any toolbars at all.
