It's been expected for a while, after many requests for it, but the official announcement of consolidated merchant payments to affiliate came by email today, April 12th.

What this means is that for those merchants who choose to have LinkShare handle their disbursements for them, they will continue to send in the bulk payment for all affiliate commissions due in one check.

What it means for the affiliates is that Linkshare will then handle the accounting distributions and and disburse the payments to each affiliate for all commissions due them from all participating merchant in one payment, rather than have to wait for individual checks for each merchant to be tallied and mailed individually.

The new consolidated payments to affiliates will begin with commissions due through March, 2005. This is the timetable:

Week of April 4, 2005:
Linkshare will send statements to partcipating merchants for commissions owed through March.

Week of April 4, 2005:
Merchants will begin remitting commissions payable through March, on a rolling basis, since their monthly accounting cycles may vary.

May, 2005:
The first consolidated payments due to affiliates through the period through end of March, 2005 will begin to be made.

Note:
Those payments will only include commissions due from those merchants whose remittances have already been received by Linkshare. This means that not all monies due will be included, since some merchants have a record of being later on their payment than others, some by several months.

Any affiliate marketers around have any thoughts on this?
