I noticed recently that Google has stopped displaying all the links for my site. When I do a "link:" search it shows I have over 800 links. However when I click through the pages to see where the links come from it stops on page 3. Even if I click directly to page 10, it will go to page 3. I tried this with other sites and it keeps going through hundreds of pages without stopping.

Has anyone experienced this? What's the deal?

I have not seen the back links disappearing but I have seen site: not show pages when there are cached urls.

For example: site:www,yoursite.com shows nothing, but "yoursite.com" brings up cached urls.

This could be a slight update. Most likely it is a tool bar synchronization with the index.

They will be back

Google only shows a sample of backlinks. It's been like that for quite some time. The number (e.g. 800) doesn't seem to mean much. Or does it?

Oh I didn't read your concern right.

yes back links will only display a portion of the links especially if they are all from the same sites.

So you are actually wondering if the SERPs lock up at a certain page when you are searching through the results for your domain name....

Unusual Activity From Google

This isn't unusual. Some of your links are similar enough that Google is trying to save bandwidth by not showing them. You can assume from this that they're probably not helping you much either.
