That could be said to most of the "professionals" in the industry, too. I thought the purpose of these forums was to help everyone learn.

Last time I checked, there was no Institute of Search Engine Optimization, nor any industry-wide credentialization process.

And given that most of the professionals are still babbling about PageRank (someone just posted something about "prioritizing PageRank distribution" in another thread) and Link Reciprocation, I would say just about anyone is equally qualified to give advice on SEO.

Yep, don't take offence mate, but learning is one thing, selling a service your not capable of selling is another. Get serious.

Agreed. I have the same opinion on those who are so tied up in PageRank and so forth. I'm equally prejudice across the board. Call a spade a spade... and the first post is that spade.

Hmm... so you should not ask questions here unless you already know the answers? Seems a bit of a strange idea to me.

But Azhar, Anthony is right in his own inimitable way, the optimization of that site is not doing the site owner who presumably paid you for SEO any favors. Here are a few tips to get you started:

1. Do some keyword research and find out what the phrases real searchers are using (tip they are not using any of the 5 phrases targeted in your page title)
2. Limit yourself to only one or two targeted phrases per page. Use only these phrases in you page title, meta description, meta keywords tags and an H tag at the top of your page. Use the targeted phrases on the page also.
3. Add some text content to the pages.
4. Limit yourself to one page title per page.
5. Inbound anchor text links will help your google rankings if they use the same anchor text you are optimizing the pge for.
6. Read some more about SEO basics.

Your on the mark Mel. For others, I'll put it another way! If I'm still learning my law degree, is it then right to sell my services as a lawyer? Not a chance in hell. Business principles apply!

The javascript drop down nav isn't doing you any favours in SE's.....

i have got positions in almost every search engine including msn, yahoo, overtrue etc, but i have totall lost my self working hard for geting position in google...

Azhar - This can be due to several things. There has been something called the "sandbox" on Google... lots of discussions about it on this and other forums... which has kept most new sites from ranking in Google since last March.

The recent big update on Google allowed many "sandboxed" sites to emerge, but not all. I don't know if there's general agreement yet, about whether there still is some sort of a "new" site filter on Google, if that's what the sandbox was, or whether it's some other problem... or combination of problems. I think you may just have to read about it and perhaps wait.

But not ranking in Google also can be an indication that you don't have good inbound links. In addition to having good anchor text, as Mel describes, it's also important to have the links coming to you from good quality sites that aren't related to you by ownership. I'm oversimplifying a lot here, but this means that the links should be coming from sites on different webservers from yours.

It helps if the links are from sources that are "on topic." In your case, links from sites and directories about businesses in Pakistan, clothing sites and directories, etc, would be helpful. You need as many different links from as many different good quality sources as you can get. They also need to be straight html links. Javascript links, redirected links, etc, will not help you and might harm you.

Directories may be a good source of links for you. I think you will have to improve the appearance and text content of the site, add more content and more pages, before you will find many directories that will link to you.

I would recommend that you drop the Active-X and javascript from your main pages, as I don't think you know how to handle it for SEO. For security reasons, most knowledgeable people don't want to run Active-X anyway.

I also recommend that you drop the all-caps capitalization in your title, etc. It looks spammy and doesn't help you in search. For titles I recommend title case...

- This Is Title Case - First Letters Are Capitalized

For sentences, use sentence case...

- This is sentence case. First letter in a sentence is capitalized. This is what you use on your page.

The title of the page, as Mel suggests, is very important, and should be focussed around your most important phrases for each page... Keep each page title to less than 65 to 70 characters.

Meta keywords are essentially useless for SEO. They won't help you rank. Neither, for the most part, will alt tags.
