Hi. I was admiring the job Target.Com did on their site, in terms of implementing a set of tabs with content underneath each tab:

See Target's Page (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_2/601-5694035-6764114?%5Fencoding=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B0001V1M8M)

Question--will Web robots spider all the text that are underneath the Tabs "Features", "Description", "Additional Info", "Shipping Info"? I would hate to invest a lot of development in my site, only to find out that all that content is unreachable by Crawlers and Spiders.

Thanks,
Seoloo

It does not look good... see what the spider would see here:

Sad. I hope they get their money back.

I swear I wish I could slap some of these knuckle head design firms that probably charged 100k for a site that is a complete derelict in the SE's.

The only thing that will float sites like this are link pop.

Mike, to a big extent sites like that have to rely on type-in traffic & branding, PPC and adverts, and affiliate marketers sending them traffic. That isn't such a bad thing for the affiliate crowd, especially those who pursue organic listings for traffic.

Sorry if I'm missing something here, but other than the fact that the Spidered Links are woefully gargantuan, what exactly is wrong with this page? From the tool that AussieWebmaster posted, it appears that the spider is picking up all the text that's embedded under the JavaScript tabs.

I'm just getting my feet wet in this SEO stuff, so any elucidation would be most welcome :)

Thanks :)

The system is not good for getting listed for any terms... the internal links have no anchor text to note.... title tags wasted... no SEO thought given to anything.

Thanks aussiewebmaster.

Design of the overall page aside...is the text undeneath each JavaScript "tab" going to get spidered and contribute to the page's rankings?

Thanks
.

They will get spidered but I do not see them getting any sort of placement for terms unless they get serious inbound links... but then they have huge branding and may not need people to find them in the engine so much as just being online.
They should get some placement for Target... which would be enough for them.
