HI all, newbie question here. I just built a new site and added a link to it on another site that is spidered by google daily. The new site hasnt seen googlebot yet (it has only been 2 days)...how long should the bot take to hit the new site?

thx

If the first site (the one the link comes from) has a good PR then you should see the GoogleBot visit in the next week or so.

Some have suggested that using the Google toolbar and sufing your site may provide signals to Googlebot also.

Why not just suggest it (http://www.google.com/addurl.html)? Are you running some kind of test?

http://www.google.com/webmasters/1.html
"Submission is not necessary and does not guarantee inclusion in our index. Given the large number of sites submitting URLs, it's likely your pages will be found in an automatic crawl before they make it into our index through the URL submission form. We DO NOT add all submitted URLs to our index, and cannot predict when or if they will appear."

"The best way to ensure Google finds your site is for your page to be linked from lots of pages on other sites. Google's robots jump from page to page on the Web via hyperlinks, so the more sites that link to you, the more likely it is that we'll find you quickly."

inthedark: I good PR3 or PR4 link should get the Googlebot at your door with in 2 or 3 days.

Bob, don't you know we have all been told to ignore what Google write on their site. Many of the 'pros' here do... :)

Dave: No I didn't know that. I think in this case what Google has written is correct. There is no need to submit your site. You just need to get a couple of PR5 links and the Googlebot will come running in about 3 days. I never submit sites to Google. I just give them links. I am guessing you disagree with what Google has stated and you submit you sites. Is that right?
