View Full Version : How to 'optimize' the Google SERPs for my own name...

I'm in an industry where I have a guess that potential linkers might google my name up out of curiosity. 2 of the pages that turn up in the Google SERPs for a search of my own name are SEO blogs.

Of course, you could say, there's nothing wrong with being an SEO yada yada, but I know I don't live in a perfect world, so if people read I'm doing SEO (that sneaky SEO stuff you know!), it might make them see me in a less positive (less linkable ;)) light simply because I'm an SEO. I think that would be unfair :-)

So, I'm going to try to get these 2 listings out of the top10 in Google..to page 2 at least (maybe page 3).

I've had an Amazon wishlist outrank these 2 blog listings (might have to do with the fact that it mentions a person's name in the title?), and have been thinking that might be a nice way to do it.

I've also been thinking of linking to some random pages (from forum signatures or whatever) using my own name. Does Google "bombing" (with 1 link ;)) still work even if the keyword/name isn't on the website?

Any ideas?
