Hello Search Watch

Perhaps I am not a SEO Guru like many of you yet I see that Google will perhaps only show 1 page of a multipage website in search results - the home page. And I am talking about for various combinations of keywords in Google searches.

Then the question is how to best overcome Google's inclination to just show the home page - while you have other pages focusing on other key words.

The usuals: keyword URL, <title>,<content>, <h1>,<h2>, Page titles, keyword density,

Any other advice on the magical formula to get good attention for extra pages other than the homepage?

I am thinking the <h1><h2> tags are special - and to really tell Google that the pages on the site that have these tags are important. True?

Over.

Thanks Perfect.

I believe sitemaps are overrated although Google has signaled that they matter. I put a sitemap in and noticed zero results.

Let me restate:

Google search naturally shows the homepage as businesses design it as the main front door to their web presence. Then, how best to signal to Google that, for various lines of businesses, other website "doors" or pages are most relevant to customers?

The home page often carries the maximal amount of credibility, whereas other pages are not as credible. If you want other pages to show up, optimize them like you do to your home page. Most link building points links to the home page and that tells search engines the home page is more important. You can keep your link building and do it to your other pages.

The more the link building stuffs for the pages which get high amount of importance based upon the same you should provide the more amount of priority to those pages in sitemap.xml
