You have a small budget, but do you have an hour a day to work on the promotion yourself at no cost?

Rather than buy some links, go over to blogger.com, create a blog and every day, add an article with some careful links that discuss the subject matter of your site.
Every day find some blogs by other authors, and **slowly** start leaving comments (without links directly to your main site, although back to your blog is fine) on their blogs.
If you're desperate to spend some money, buy an adwords campaign instead. That will do for your online marketing than useless link farms.

I have some friends outside the States, who are very good in seo, and they say linkbaiting is very popular and gives a lot of effect. So I'm wondering why is this method so unpopular in the States.. May be because of the big prices?
