The site I currently look after has a sub nav menu on some of the pages in the right hand side of the pages.

See Airtime Manager's BlackBerry section:
E.g. www. airtimemanager.co.uk/blackberry/enterprise/keyfeatures.aspx

What concerns me is that whilst the sub menu on the right is good for SEO is it really necessary as it is identical to the nav on the left?

Do the benefits of SEO out weigh the benefits of usability/clarity of the page…. Or does the menu help both?

I would welcome your views on this.
