Can any one tell me that using word press technology to create a website has some extra effects on search engines? Does it increase number of visitors to the site? or any thing like that?

Is it true, I have just heard this, I may be wrong but need to be clear for the same.

wordpress is seo friendly and there are many free plugins to optimize it better for SEs. Besides wordpress is a blog content management system and google has a bias towards blogs and ranks blogs better than commercial websites.
