Hi

I am choosing to build a niche site in UK using SEO around a breast pump, so typed the term in google keyword selector I found these terms:

Average search
electric breast pump - 22,200
baby breast pump - 12,100
electronic breast pump - 6,600

I just wanted to know is the electric breast pump - 22,200 too competitive keyword because it gets 22,200 avg search and electronic breast pump - 6,600 too low and its not worth pursing?

Thanks for your help

Kind Regards

It may seem that way but those numbers only tell you how many searches are being done. You need to look at the number of indexed pages for each search as well as the number of people advertising in adwords for the terms.

That will give you a better idea of competitiveness.

Hi AussieWebmaster,

How do I check the number of indexed pages just for UK market? I am only going to do SEO and not adwords do I still need to check how many people are advertising in adwords for this term, if I need to check adwords competition how do I check this?

many thanks for your help.

use google.co.uk and the button for uk pages
there is also a firefox plugin for global searches (http://www.redflymarketing.com/blog/google-global-view-results-different-locations/)

Yeah AW, this is very nice plug-in.
Skywalker, i really feel these are very less competitive keywords you can easily rank well on these terms.
Hence never rely only on Google adwords keyword selector tool, you should also search keywords with other tools like wordtracker, i would say its worth to buy.
If you want to rank your website in Google.co.uk only you can set your targeted customers in GWT settings.
BEST of LUCK.

Focus on the number of competitors..

If you want to have an estimated value of difficulty, there are lots of tools out there which can give you an estimate of percentage difficulty of your keywords.:)
