It's my first post so please be gentle. I have self taught myself to design a website (thanks to Mac iWeb) for a non-profit animal rescue group. In the process I had to sign up with a new web hosting service and now our website has dropped from first position to "I can't even find it" when doing a search. If you type in the entire name spayneuteractionprogram.ca a wierd thing happens and it comes up as spayneuteractionprogram.ca/%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%
What the heck? I used to be able to enter SNAP and come out on page one. It's been several months so I thought the google spiders would find us by now. I can't understand all the HTML blah blah blah about submitting the site to Google, is there any quick fix for a non-techy? Thanks for any help you can provide. The orphan cats, dogs and I will be eternally grateful.

Somehow your server was set to default to that page...

I am thinking when you typed in home page or was in that space where you name the home page and then save - you entered a lot of spaces

html page names cannot have spaces so the %20 is inserted for each time you hit the space bar... redo the web design and try the option of not naming the home page... let it just be the domain name - if that is not possible name it index.html

then come back and start reading about SEO basics and go back and edit code etc to get it better... the articles can walk even a complete novice through

Dear Aussie Webmaster. Thanks a million for your response! I used Mac iWeb to set up the site, so it automatically titles the first page Home. After 2 hours of fumbling around, I managed to do as you suggested and got rid of the 20% thing by tweeking the design a bit. Now I'm hoping that we will once again appear on Google when a search is done. I can't believe that these forums exist and people like you take time to help people like me who are struggling with technology. Thanks again.
