You are correct Mr. Jopsons but still we need to target particular keyword for our product or services. don't we ?

The value of many of those directories if you are doing hundreds is a waste of time... try getting in to DMOZ, Yahoo and BOTW (which allows a few links if there is diversity of content)

I would also work on giving away articles, try becoming a writer for a blog or news site etc.

The value of many of those directories if you are doing hundreds is a waste of time...The value of MOST of them out there is a waste of time. Not only that, but amassing a bunch of new low- to no_value backlinks in a short period of time is a really bad idea.
