I manage a website for a business that makes and sells food online. Today I checked there search results to find a very suspicous search description. In the description it said they made a certain kind of particular food, which they never have. I realize sometimes google will use text on the site for the description, but this particular word is no where on the website and never has been. How could this happen?

is it a paid result or an organic result?

organic would only need inbound links using the term in question

it is an organic result. I'll check their links out, but would be suprised if any of them had this term.
