Hi everyone, what a great forum!
My site is indexed with Google because if I search for the actual web address, it's there.
My question is, if I search Google using a certain search term, I cant find it in the first 40 pages (no seo has been done apart from registering the site as yet)so is there something that will tell me which page number my site is on using that particular search term?
Welcome Maven, no real tool to tell you which page your site is on or if it ranks at all. You might consider using analytics to see where and by what keyword your traffic originates. Then you could check it in the engines

Well, in terms of just a blanket "where am I listed" tool, that would just bog down an entire server for hours. However, you can look up your rankings for specific keywords one at a time. There are plenty of free & paid rank checking services out there. Just Google "rank checker" and get a whole list of them.
Personally, I use the SEOmoz tool, which you can even use free on a limited basis if you register a free account. You just type in the domain of your site, the keyword you're searching on, and the SE you're curious about and it'll spit out what page & what rank your site was found on. It takes some time and initial keyword research on your part to go through one at a time, but it'll save you from manually sifting through page results. RankChecker.net is another one with similar functionality that's free. Hopefully this is what you were looking for.
(No, I don't work for either of those companies)
Just Google "rank checker" and get a whole list of them.
This is true but only if you rank for the term in question. Just because your site is indexed, that doesn't mean you show up in the SERPs for a specific term.

I'm finding that 'seopro.com.au' is showing as the most reliable for me so far.(and free!)
