you need to redirect non www to www version of homepage... along with links to index etc..... they should all... including inbound links (which inbound should be to set url or deep url link that matches title tag keyword) go to same url... ie. domain.com

Google may think "www and without www" are 2 duplicate websites, and effect you SERP.

No bad effect.. I have sire ranking #1 w/o www
I have another one with www. You can utilize Google webmaster' Set preferred domain to let Google to see your domain either with www or w/o www.

Thanks

It's good you haven't noticed any issues but, that may not always be the case. You can set a preferred domain in Google Webmaster Tools but it is still best to do as AW suggested.

There have been sites that got wiped off the face of the map for canonical problems. One site I'm familiar with had the main static pages at www. for years (and the IBLs), but the shopping cart was in non-www. Someone had re-arranged it so all the site was resolving to both, with insite links pointing to non-www but 95% of the IBLs pointed to the homepage with the www. There were also dup page title issues, but the canonical issue was the driving factor that they lost their rankings and traffic for.

I worked with the site over the summer, implementing some mod_rewrite fixes (complicated because of the cart issue), but it took a very short time to recover. It was no more than just a couple of weeks, probably quicker than expected because of a lot of inbound links.
