I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get effective keyword research done. Basically I have several pages I want to get written, but don't know what keywords I should optimize for. I have gone the route of using overture to get me phrases by hand and manually getting results in a search engine. While it got me the results I needed, it took WAY too long. I tried NicheBot and recall not liking the results. I have just done some work in theme zoom sampler but I don't see enough information on keywords to make a reasonable choices, although it initially seems to quickly give me a decent list of keyword phrases based more on synonyms than on an overture results screen. Mostly I want to see information on how many people search for a keyword phrase and the allintitile results for a phrase that shows me how many are (apparently) optimized for the phrase. I refuse to spend the $250 a month for the primary version of theme zoom.

I'm not quite sure how I'm supposed to be doing this research. I appreciate any help I can get and am starting to feel kind of frustrated and desperate. What "should" I be doing? What does everybody else do for this?

hello..

I'm new as SEO.. from what I've learn from the other SEO... try to get the target keyword that is related to your site...and try to use a keyword searching tool that you can view the how many times that the certain keyword search in the search engine...hope I can help you this way...:)

What tool? I think I understand what metrics can be created and what to look for. But I need specific advice about what tools to use. I know I have to spend money, but I don't know how much.

Try Overture Keyword Selector Tool (http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/) (it's up again!)

How can I automate is? I will need to do it routinely for keyword lists that are several hundred phrases long. Doing it manually will take hours. Please help, I'm feeling desperate. This is a basic task for an SEO and I'm struggling with it.

Go to Nichebot. You pay ahead & pay as you go in any amount. $20 will get you 3 or 4 keyword sources and a couple weeks worth of searches. Overture is running....but getting almost a year since it's been updated.

Both free versions:

Keyword Discovery Keyword Tool (http://www.keyworddiscovery.com/search.html)

WordTracker Keyword Suggestion Tool (http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/)

Both very helpful, even more so than the Overture tool was.
