As an active bidder in Overture, I have noticed something strange I don't know anybody else had this problem.

In one of our account we exhausted our funds - at the time daily click average was 48 USD. We waited for 4 days and decided to replenish our funds.
Overture normally requires 3x + alittle bit more to make the keywords active again. Ok - so far so good. Hmmm.
The we decided to lower our bids (immediately as the funds replenished). To my amazement 3 days later we have run out of funds again although now we have lowered our bids which would attract half the traffic. So my question is
how come the only data available to Overture was 4 days old yet they apply to newly funded account although the bids are set at very low levels. Is this a serious flaw in their system or I wonder!!!!

Harry,

have you tried going to reports and doing a "Search Term Summary" for the period you speak of? Assuming that you have attracted only half the traffic due to a lower bid is an error...you have to look at the numbers. If there is still confusion, post the stats (without the keywods or URLs) in here and I'm sure someone can explain it...

my problems is not related how many keywords I attracted. It is simply

the funds are given to overture to re-activate a site after a period of 5,6,7 or more days the only data i can see before I put the money in is what happened in the past (funds spent per day).

if i have replenishing the funds , I am only passing the money to overture on condition that the new bids should be deducted from it (condition is created at the time of re-activating and immediately lowering the bids). They cannot
(i do not know if this is legal) take my money and still apply the old daily click rate and reduce the funds REGARDLESS whether I have decided to stay with same daily clicks spent per day or not.

Another example lets say you lowered everything to 10 cents as soon as you replenish your funds you will be amazed suddenly even at 10cents (and you know you will not get much clicks for that) you funds will go up in smoke.

because they use the old data which was higher NOT the new one which you want to create. (with 10c a click maybe 1 usd or less per day!! if you are lucky...)

Now if it is an ongoing campaign it is of course different as what you see today is i think 2-3 days old and even though if I reduce the clicks today it still goes on for couple days then the funds used become less and less but my issue is not this one. It is for something stopped totally beyond 2,3,4 days or more.

 sorry harry, but you seem to have lost me. I am not used to a daily limit on Overture and I am not exactly sure what you are talking about with the funds "disappearing." In the past, every cent spent on clicks has been available to me in "Reports." I have always self-managed my accounts...did you sign up for full service and perhaps there are different terms (i.e.: daily limits)?

Harry your assumption that lowering your bid will reduce traffic is somewhat flawed. I have dropped ads from the top five to under the 10th position and had better CTR. My most relevant KW's have a consistent CTR no matter 1st through 5th placement.

Ok try lowering to absolute minimum (10 cents)as soon as you re-activate after 5 days see what happens. @ 10c, assuming you have popular keywords you will be place somewhere 15 - 50th places therefore you will get very little or no clicks at all but check your fund movements for the first 2 days only.
