Hi everyone,
I have a few questions regarding SEO tactics.
There is a lot of emphasis put on using the right keywords in your meta tags.
-Should you have a different list of keywords for each page?
-Should you include words that are found on that particular page?
-Does it really help to incorporate keywords in your link navigation and img ALTs?
Thanks,
Gotbreaks

Ok...............................

Thats correct
-Should you have a different list of keywords for each page?
Yes, personally the keywords that I use in my meta tags compliment my title tags keywords works. My title tag keywords support my page content.
-Should you include words that are found on that particular page?
Yes and No, if the keywords you use in your creative are keywords that searchers search for, then yes. But if for some reason, your creative staff writes copy/content based on company or corporate style and they do not match with what people are searching for, then no.
-Does it really help to incorporate keywords in your link navigation and img ALTs?
Yes, IMO
I hope this helps! caugas

When selecting your keywords, can you simply use:
Example - "pdf, printing, editing"...as oppose to - "pdf, printing, editing, pdf printing, pdf editing" ?
Which would allow a site to gain higher recognition from a search engine?
Thanks very much, for a second time!

IMO, to be safe I would place your keywords like this pdf, pdf priting, pdf editing, pdf image, etc.
Why, because I don't know your site, and I don't know your content, and I don't know your page rank. If you had great content, and a great page rank you might be able to get away with pdf, editing, priting, image. I stress might, through testing. But remember its about "relevancy" when it come to being relevant in the eyes of the searcher and the search engine, it better to have more niche keywords landing to more niche pages.
take it for what is worth. I am pretty good at SEO, but each site and each engine is different, what works for me, may not work for you. But I have placed you on the right path.
I hope this helps.

Fannnnntastic!
Another small question, though...
Keywords/page titles/ and all that lot -- is it case sensitive to each other or the search engines?
Example, does it matter if you list 'pdf' or 'PDF' as a keyword? Or have 'pdf' as a keyword, but capitalize it in the title of your page?
I wouldn't think so, but then again, as mentioned before, I'm new to this whole thing...

CApitAliZatIon makes no difference but, a pdf is a filetype so you may consider if you are using it in the right context.

Ok I have a question.... When doing your meta keywords and I think someone basically asked this question already sorta.. Anyways when doing your keywords should you or, is it possible to do something like this.... ( pdf, editing, printing ) And by doing keywords like that you might get results under pdf editing and pdf printing. The reason I ask is because could it not be considered spam if you did ( pdf editing, pdf printing, and so on so forth with other words ) ???? Let me know if this makes no sense haha .

One thing to remember, .PDF and .word documents can also be optimised. It is worth going to the document properties and ensure you name the doc, give it a title, enter keywords in the docs also.....make sure they all relate to the content of the document...
Again treat the document as a standalone item, don't just rely on the webpage to get your docs listed.
Hope this helps :-)

it helps but it wasn't really the answer i was looking for. :) really I w3as only using .pdf as an example. So the question is can you break up keywor4d strings like ( dog days of summer, dog days of winter, dog days of fall, dog days of autumn,.......so on so forth ) and just simply put (dog,days,winter,summber,fall,autumn... therefore eliminating the over repeating of certain words.) ????? would the search engines put the words together as phrases?

I was the one your where referring to if you want to be picked up for
"pdf editing" then pdf editing should be in the title tags and meta tags -
by using "pdf, editing, printing" will not get you page picked up by the SERPS more than "pdf editing" That is an I WISH< WOULD LIKE TO HAVE < WOULDN'T THAT BE NICE, there is no certainity to that logic.
Remember, a page content that is more relevant i.e. more exact to the search phrase is going to get picked up, unless you have a above par PR > than 8, which many people do not have. JMO "any thoughts, and counters?

ok so if it is better to use the exact keyword string instead of basically breaking it down and making each word a specific keyword then how much is to much in your keyword part in your meta tag? Say I have 9 keyword strings that have the same word in them each time is that too much? Also I have read that its better to have only 8 keywords or keyword strings in your keyword portion of your meta is this true? or does it even really matter.

Hi, good question, I recently followed the implementation below for a client on a property site. What I would tend to do, is break it down....let me explain...
Group all of your keyword phrases, as per below:
Group 1
dog days of summer (strong keyword phrase)
summer dog days (strong keyword phrase)
dog days (weak keyword phrase)
Group 2
dog days of winter (strong keyword phrase)
winter dog days (strong keyword phrase)
dog days (weak keyword phrase)
Group 3
dog days of fall (strong keyword phrase)
fall dog days (strong keyword phrase)
dog days (weak keyword phrase)
Group 4
dog days of autumn (strong keyword phrase)
autumn dog days (strong keyword phrase)
dog days (weak keyword phrase)
Then make sure, each of the groups have unique landing pages. Also ensure each of the strong keywords, appears at least once in the page copy. Weak keywords should also appear, but not as important.
The problem with using just "dog" or just "days", is the terms alone will hold far too much competition. Also the results returned will quite broad, as opposed to the results returned for "dog days" or "autumn dog days".
Also, make sure you have conducted your keyword research before hand.
Hope this helps :-)
