Hi buddies,

My clients site is a Restaurant site. I took this project and working on it for optimisation. It is a .com site.

But noticed just today that there is another site .co.uk for the same restaurant and the content and everything is similar to my site.

Will this become a duplicate or mirror site issue? Will my site rank for the optimised keywords?

Please help me with your suggestions.

Look, uk domain will rank better in the UK market, (specially if it is hosted in the UK), but for your benefit, just enter new and good relevant content and work on your inbound links. In the restaurant vertical, there is not a lot of competition, so by having good relevant content and a good set of good links, you should be able to get the rankings you need.

As the previous poster says, you need to decide which market you're targeting. If it's a UK business you'll probably best using the .co.uk domain and hosting in the UK. If it's in the US do the opposite.

301 redirect the unused domain to the actual site to avoid duplicate content issues and to ensure all of the inbound links point to the same domain.
