I'm asking about search queries/formulations that are clearly a result of original thinking.
For instance, using the site: operator to search a particular website, without a search feature of its own, is evident.
On the other hand, the technique of finding books on the Web as formulated by Greg R.Notess isn't evident at all. Is it protected by copyright?

Why I'm asking? Because I've just rolled out a web resource with the name Use Simulator for Google Search.
URL: http://www.usesimulator.com/google/index.html
It is a free part of a wider hypertext project, and it covers all standard knowledge about Google screens and "how to" instructions. But it's only a beginning. Any useful data about Google search will be added as it comes in through feedback communication boxes scattered all over the site, or I happen to find it somewhere else.
Now, what if I add a search query, such as Greg's?
I don't want to steal it from him :), but there's no way to give him due credit - the whole thing is anonymous, my own name is missing as irrelevant for the visitors.
