I would like to take a second to ask you guys your opinions on directory submission, and how do you guys do it. Currently what we do is we have a list of directories that we submit to and work our way through this list and submit to each site manually. However this has proved to be very time consuming and not cost effective. I am thinking about just doing away with this system and moving to a paid directory submission. At this time we feel as if there are a large amount of companies that can do this in a more efficient manner and provide a more accurate reporting into exactly where these links are submitted to.
So my question to you is what companies do you use for paid directory submission, and what pros/cons have you seen or heard about using, paid directory submission?

I dont do paid directory submissions. I admit I have thought about purchasing mass links from directories in the past, but, many SEO's have told me that this was not the way to go. Building a SEO program takes time, effort, and energies, there are no quick solutions, if there were everyone would be doing it.
1. I do not buy links from directories, if I did I would only choose to by links from 5 or 6 top sites/directories (and I would do it myself).
2. You mentioned about manuelly submitting you site to directories. That good and all, but you should be aware that having links from numerous directories (hundreds) is suspect in my opinion and the SERP's will pick up on that. You should submit to the top 15-20 directories, and just create good content or Public relations to get your content on the Radar.
3. Ask non competitive sites to link to you, but do not recipical links.
4. create more content, create more pages.
I hope this helps.

thanks that does help. The reason i am asking is because i have seen sites that will submit your site to 50 directories for like $20 bucks. Just wanted to know what other people think about these services.

If it is to go to be true, there is most likely a catch......... and you want to stay away from anything that does not settle well with you. That is why the board is here to ask, learn, discuss, and engadge.
Best of luck.
