Hey All..

I know there have been many posts like this, but I am looking for a SHORT list of maybe the top 5 or 6 directories to submit to. These can be paid like www.bluefind.com

Thanks

Cheers!

I've compiled a short list of Mostly Free PageRank Passing Directories to Submit To (http://www.seroundtable.com/archives/000669.html).

In this forum I found this thread that talk about some good directories;
Business Search Engines and Directories (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=27).

Hello critter.
I know there have been many posts like this, but I am looking for a SHORT list of maybe the top 5 or 6 directories to submit to. These can be paid like www.bluefind.com

I recommend these:
wowdirectory.com free submission, decent pr. then get the...
wowdirectory.com $20 for 1 year sponsored listing in a high-PR cat.
bluefind.com high-pr listing for $50 one time fee
sevenseek.com will be high-pr when Google updates PR. $40 one time fee
I'm considering these:
bcentral.com $50/yr for multiple bits of anchor text
searchturtle.com $5 one time fee. Cheap.
gimpsy.com free

Hold off on business.com until the dust settles.

I got a list of about 50 or so that come w my ebook.

a few other popular ones
http://www.gimpsy.com $40 / submission, also has a free submit
http://www.goguides.org $40 / submission, also has a submit program
http://www.joeant.com $40 / submission, free for editors...easy and quick to become an editor

recently I also have been submitting to
http://www.pharos-search.com $26 / submission, free for non commercial
http://www.elib.org 50 euro / submission, also free with reciprocal link

Hi Critter,

Have a look in the Directories section of strongestlinks.com (http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php). I think that's an excellent source to pick up the best directories to submit to.

Cheers!

If you've got the budget, I would submit to whatever directories you can - watch the effects they have on your page and determine which give you the best ROI in terms of sales or PR (whichever it is you're looking for) and pare the list down a bit next year. That said, two of the bigger ones I didn't see mentioned in this thread were Yahoo and Business.com.

I've tried navigating through the free submit info on gimpsy several times and it feels like a Byzantine nightmare. Never did figure out what I needed to do to submit. Anyone else have this problem?

Try this way,

1. Click the suggest a site link
2. For the Free submission, click the link "Not sure yet. What are my options?" in the bottom.
3. Click "Select Free Submission"
4. Enter your URL and click the "Check URL" button
5. Drill down to the category that you want to add to. Then click "add" button which is beside the category path.
6. Then, click the button "Assign the categories".

This one went live last week:

http://www.platinax.co.uk/directory/

£9.95 annual fee, but you can submit to as many categories as are relevant.

I've been through a pretty huge set of directories, and compiled a list of what I think are best to submit to for SEO purposes:

Best Web Directories (http://www.platinax.co.uk/webmasters/articles/6/).

Submit to as many free directories as possible. I would go for well mix of free and paid directories while keeping the costs low..

here are some of free directories, i always vote for...

http://www.socengine.com
http://www.directoryworld.net
http://www.hrwebdir.org

for paid directories, i always refer to this site: http://www.paiddirectories.info
My advice is dont go for paid directories over $15.
