I would appreciate your advice:
our website, www.AthleticNames.com has a google rank 7, but almost no traffic. Why could that be happening?

Is this the right forum for these questions?

Thanks,

PR Doesn't guarantee you high traffic, for traffic you must do other promotional activity for your website, like article promotion etc...

One reason is that it's only your home page that has the PR, none of it flows through the site because most of the other URLs are https and in fact are not part of your domain at all but are part of securepaynet.net. You only have three pages indexed in Google (2 each in Yahoo and MSN) because of that.

You can't expect to get traffic on an effectively 3 page site because you can't get rankings for all the keywords you would want to be found for. you need to target the keywords to pages that are related to them.

By the way your code is very poor - 215 errors on the home page - which would cause you problems even if the above didn't apply.

What did you use to check for errors?
(Vis Studio actually shows 120 - thanks for pointing this out)

Thanks

I used the HTML Tidy extension for Firefox. Validators often come up with slightly different results depending on the page concerned and the nature of the errors and what I call knock-on errors.

Interestingly your home page today is showing only 141 (and many if those are entity errors which are arguable) so presumably there have been some changes since I first looked.

If your not getting prospects to your site, look at the keywords your ranking for. Maybe the snippets aren't that appealing. Or if your getting a lot of traffic, then start looking at whether your meeting the expectations of your prospects. These errors could be part of the problem.

Bill and Copywriter39,

Thank you for your advise.

Bill,

I had cleared most of the HTML errors, hense there less of those.
Firefox Tidy reports & separator in URL Query string as "unescaped entity", so the file seems fine.

Copywriter39,

Yes, I figured that links to my web site do not contain keywords.
I will have to fix that.
Please let me know if any body wants to exchange.

Thanks.

I agree with most comments here. PR has little to do with keyword search positioning. Keyword search results are based on relevancy, not PR. Focusing on PR is not going to help ranking much. This has been the biggest misunderstanding about search engine optimization.
