View Full Version : Flash Optimization Breakthrough
A client just sent me this article about optimizing flash and honestly I'm tired of talking about this voodoo!

SEARCH ENGINES DON'T HAVE EYES!
If you make an entire website embedded within a single Flash file at one URL don't expect search engines to find you.
Three major issues with this article:
1. The April 11, 2006 release of Microsoft's popular Internet Explorer doesn't really have much to do with SEO or Googlebot.
2. ALT tags provide "alternative" text and not DIV tags especially when used with an external CSS.
3. Adding extra "variables" to URLs is not good for SEO.
ANY OTHER THOUGHTS, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SHARE?

I hear you but, there is no mention of that in this article.
Sorry but, I'm still looking for thoughts on the Flash SEO topic.

Simons1321, there has always been a lot of confusion about the purpose, and target market, for the Flash Search Engine SDK.
"Flash Search Engine SDK" was designed as a tool for search engines themselves to use to extract data from Flash files. It was lauched back in 2002.
Only one SE I know of ever used the Macromedia Flash Search Engine SDK - back in 2002. That was 'FAST alltheweb' - and its gone - bought by Yahoo!
"The Macromedia Flash Search Engine SDK is designed for search engine application engineering teams. Users of the SDK can add Flash file decompression, parsing, and indexing features to their server-based search applications."
I don't think the Flash Search Engine SDK is designed to be "a webmaster flash file conversion tool"
