deare all

I have as simple Front Page based web site in english and russian and wish to optimise the search criteria. I am a novice in such things.

While I think I can handle the english HMTL side - some problems have occured with Front Page when attempting to insert meta tags in RUSSIAN. Front page will not save the changes but alters the text to gibberish. This happens whether I cut and paste from russian documents or type in the russian in Front page HMTL view.

Having read a number of reviews on the use of meta tags at all I would like to ask.
1) are foreign language meta tags necessary or will russian search engines read english anyway (bit odd for a russian language server!)

2) If foreign language tags are needed then how to do this using Front Page

many thanks

you should use the UTF-8 charset for all pages and beware to check in which encoding you are saving your documents.
for instance if you encode your doc as ANSI and use the UTF-8 meta then you will have problems.
