I was reviewing some sites and seeing how they do things.. I guess you can say i ran out of ideas and are just checking out other sites and their layouts..
i can across a site that is listed in google but not in yahoo... that is strange since i thought they usually go hand in hand, but why would a site be listed in google and not in yahoo? I dont want to post the site here since that could bring up all kinds of hell, but answer to the best of your ability since i cant seem to figure it out.

they both have different spam filters, crawl cycles, index different content differently, and yahoo also has paid inclusion and human editors of their results.
there are a ton of reasons why a page may be in one and not the other

But from what i understand this isnt some new site, this site has been around for a long time and seems to generate a large amount of traffic..

htxred,
I think the key here is what seobook mentions: Google and Yahoo are just different. Perhaps the confusion stems from Yahoo results being supplemented by Google in the past? This is not true today.

htxred, are you talking about the site being in the Yahoo Directory, or in the regular Yahoo search listings?
Being listed in the Directory depends on submitting and paying, unless you can manage to get a free listing (not impossible) - which still needs proper submission and is subject to human review. Coming up in regular search is based on crawls and the ranking algorithm.
There's a big difference between the two - which of them is it that you're concerned about?
