I was curious if anyone had any experience with the various services that are currently online that say they will create your business profile and then submit it to the local search engines and directories.

I just finish reviewing my current local listings and found a number of mistakes, that I want to fix. I was curious if I used one of these sevices if I created a profile if this would automatically fix what is currently online or simply create a new listing for my business. One thing that is wrong is my business is spelt incorrectly so I did not want to have my business listed twice (under two different spellings).

If I fixed this info myself, is it easy to get info updated from the major business data providers such as InfoUSA?

Thanks

So that's not soo very easy to answer.

Ur right that there is a risk of the business listing to be added while the wrong listing is still living in the various systems. So for once you need to figure out the source of the problem - mind all the players in the Local Search market gather their data from multiple sources find a list here (http://www.locallytype.com/pages/submit.htm) - Once you found the source of the wrong listing - maybe you remember signing up with e.g. infoUSA or any other YP player - contact them and tell them to correct.
As there might still be a old wrong set of data flying around you might want to add additional information to your business details - opening hours, ccd acceptance URL etc. -as during data-set deduplication /there is more than just one source/ a rich set of data is more likely to survive, as it has to be seen as the more trustworthy one.
