Hi there can anyone help with this problem?

I have a basic program called Web CEO which searches a page that you submit and advises you of what is wrong with the page in regards to CEO. Each time no matter what I do, I get the following message.

"Both the text and background of your page have the same color! This is a commonly used way of deceiving search engines and it is easily detected. Change the color of text or background to avoid inevitable problems. If you use images or objects (flash, ActiveX) as background, search engines cannot detect whether background and text colors coincide--they compare body background color with the text color. In this case, make sure the body background color is not the same as the text color. Otherwise, your page may be penalized for nothing, even if the text is visible in browser windows."

I know for sure that my background colour and font colours are not the same. Can anyone give me some tips of suggest a site that can search a page and advise exactly where the problem is.

Cheers

Mally

Hi Mally,

I would look at the product website for an idea of this message. Do they have a support forum or some sort of help integrated with the program?

I have a background color of white for my website, but I also have some areas that are dark, so I have a CSS style for white text that I use for those areas.

If some software package only looked at the color of the background software and that one text style, it might think I was putting white on white, which in fact I was not.

This is one of the reasons I don't take SEO advice from computer programs.

Use them to quickly collect and present information, yes. Do my thinking for me, no.

As long as you are using that text properly, I think it would be safe to say that the engineers at Google are smarter than the ones for Web CEO, IMO.
